Suzi's visit

two of my favorite things - ice cream and gorgeous eyes!
another fav of mine- Emily sleeping!, sweet Cody chillin', Owen
And of course, when Auntie Suzi comes, Emily must wear a pair of her sunglasses!!
Suzi, Cory's sister, and I at the end of a great visit!! Notice the fantastic hair job- Suzi colored and cut my hair!! I still love it, thank you Suzi!!! Thanks for the delicious spinach and artichoke dip - yummy!!!, and the fun thrift store adventures...(if you want to see a funny video of the kids, go to sidebar of family and friends -Suzi and Kevin - Adventures in Logan post) And if I ever get my computer and camera to work at the same time, together, I will add more pictures - until then... beware, I may steal some pictures from your blog!!

Welcome September!

Autumn is my favorite time of year! I love to see the hot summer go and the anticipation for winter is exciting for me (mostly because I love scarves)! I love the changing of tree leaves (makes me miss Michigan - WOW!) and when I am old and rich, I will be an 'autumn bird' instead of a 'snow bird' and my second home will be somewhere with lots and lots of beautiful trees!!

Autumn is also nice to get more of a routine in our home...school does a lot for that! I can't believe still I have a child old enough for preschool- wonder what is like when she goes to "real" school. Emily is doing great! Her language is about to explode- she is now pronouncing b's and p's! She is such a friendly child and catches on quickly, even as the youngest in her class she is right there with them. Owen is getting so big - literally and figuratively! He says Emily all the time for things he wants...I am not sure if he thinks she will get it for him or if I say Emily too much so he thinks its like the word please?! Its cute either way! He is going up and down stairs pretty well and can open the fridge- bummer for Mom! The other day I found a few toys in the fridge!!!

Cory is still in Colorado but only two more weeks to go!! Hallelujah! He has learned so many different things but is happy to be coming home soon too! When he gets home, he will be getting a job and finishing up his turf management program long distance. I'm sure the ward will find something to put him to work doing- they gave me the calling of enrichment leader. Yes, again for the 3rd time- obviously, I am not learning what I am supposed to or I am just really good at it! (haha, I think its to develop my non-existent crafty side)

Well, we took forever to fix our computer screen which was actually cheap (Thanks Dad for the referral!) but now our disc reader is acting up - I really was going to post a bunch of pictures but sorry! I hope all is well for you and yours! We feel grateful for the opportunity to live each day and be so blessed with a fantastic family!!

ps Congratulations Kristina on delivering twins today!! Rosilee (6# 3 oz) and William (7# 6oz)!! I am superstitious/selfishly glad I didn't get pregnant this year - my brother's wife also delivered twins in June!

Update!!

So...its been almost two months since our last post! But what can I say- I don't feel too bad because I haven't had the internet (or desire to post until now)!!

Kaylynn, Emily and Owen have been in Logan now for 2 months and Cory has about 5 weeks to go in Vail to finish up his internship. We are having a great summer, all things considered :)

Emily went to a summer session at her new preschool and did so great! She loves school and we can already see improvement in her listening and verbal skills! Owen is growing so huge! He is semi-running, with a slight wobble, laughing, babbling and loves to play with Emily! They are both helpful with cleaning, laundry, dishes and even cooking when I do that ;) Emily starts school again on the 24th and Owen will have me to himself again.

Cory is learning new things and making good contacts for the future career. We get to see him every other weekend for 3 days now so that is pretty exciting! Kaylynn is now serving as the enrichment leader in the ward and is having fun organizing and invovling all the sisters in activities; and is learning a bunch more crafty-artsy stuff!!

Thank you to all our friends and family who have really helped out and given us support during this unique time for our family! We love you!!!

Beautiful Logan

We found a great apartment in Logan...if you want the address please email me at kaylynnfw@yahoo.com (I don't really want to advertise to unknown people:) We are leaving Ephraim on Wednesday so I will have a few days to get situated before Cory comes for his biweekly visit. I am excited to be in our own place and look forward to getting familiar with a new town. I have heard so many great things about Logan - whenever someone hears we are moving to Logan, they always say how beautiful it is there. I think I am ready to be settled...I wonder what that will feel like?

Long time

I am sorry - still no pictures!! I have helped my parents move back into their home and have been super busy trying to help them settle in (and keep the kids out of boxes before things are childproofed!) The internet just got connected up here and I feel like I have missed out on so much of everyone's lives - two ultrasounds, all kinds of pictures, even hair color change:)
We are looking at places in Logan...a little sooner than we planned but the preschool where Emily will be attending in the fall has a great summer program too which starts the end of June so that is the next move. Cory will be in Vail until September so I will be alone alone with the kids in Logan - and we will love any visits!!!

I am growing so much in appreciation for my husband!! He is such a great husband and father. Just one of those sweet, quiet guys who is often misunderstood by many - even me at times! I am grateful every night for his sweetness, loyalty, strength and faith. He is my best friend....

To Ephraim to dwell...

We are settling in and doing well! The loading and driving all went smoothly. Cory had a storage unit ready for us in Logan and we had lots of help there to unload.
Emily started preschool in Manti - little rocky at first(she threw up on the teacher and didn't want to ride the bus at first) but is doing great now! I think time goes faster with the second child, I can hardly believe how fast they are growing up! Emily looks like a little girl now, not a toddler and Owen is WALKING!! Usually he needs to be holding something to walk his best like his sippie cup or a toothbrush...its humorous to me!
Anyway, we are good here. Cory is working now every day-he had a few snow delays but good now, and is enjoying his work. He is coming here this weekend so we are all excited for that! My camera's usb wire is still packed (we are in my parent's apartment until school is out May 2nd and then we will move into their big house so for now I only have essentials like clothes and bath stuff out:) so pictures again are going to have to wait! Leave a comment anyway!!
ps. the post title always comes to my mind when I think of living here...anyone else know the hymn?

National Pack Your Moving Truck Day

Ok, maybe not "national" packing day but it finally is for us. This afternoon, my Mom and I will be picking up the Penske 22 footer and we have some missionaries and others from our ward to help load tonight! Tommorrow, cleaning and Thursday after lunch (Emily's last school day here:( we are off! We are stopping in Boise (its about halfway) and then on to Logan Friday morning, where we are storing most of our home. Then the kids and I are off to Ephraim to my parent's place. whew. Then relax? ;) we will see!
Cory has started his intern in Colorado and doing well. He misses us and we him but we are excited for future oppurtunities this internship will bring.
Well, sorry this isn't terribly exciting but I will post pix of our trip and other good stuff some time soon!!! Loves yas!!

On the MOVE

Hello all! Sorry our blogging has taken a back seat with all the prep for moving! Cory starts his internship on Wednesday so we left Washington today to take him. We are making a short stop in Boise (THANKS Theresa!!), on to Logan for a few days to check out possible schooling and housing options (and a nice weekend by Bear Lake). After that, we will be in Ephraim on Monday and Tuesday, then Colorado on Wednesday!

Our other excitement is March Madness! This is Cory and Kaylynn's favorite sporting event of all! Sadly, Cory's fav team - Gonzaga bulldogs lost tonight. Kaylynn's fav team - Michigan State pulled out a win!!

12 DAYS!

Whoops, it has been 12 days since our last post! I actually did do a post on my family's blog and was going to do one on here but I guess I got distracted:)

So, life here has been, well, a little crazy..we have all been sick and passed it around and got more sick. Owen scared us - he was coughing and wheezing the first of this week and I took him in on Wednesday and the doctor gave him a steriod shot and gave us a nebulizer for him. Thankfully, I only had to hold him down three times for a treatment!! (He has the same little dinosaur mask his cousin CJ!)

We have also nailed down some moving details...Cory has to be in Colorado on the first and Emily has spring break that week so we are leaving the 27ish for a family trip to take him there and then Kaylynn and kids (and niece to help) drive back to Washington. Two weeks later, Kaylynn's Mom will be here to help pack a moving truck and help drive it down to Utah the third weekend in April. So there you go!

Look for the kids' bday pix soon! If you scroll down to the bottom you will see a fun countdown!!

They moved a bunch too!

So I have felt a little overwhelmed looking at our family's next move (#11 if you count the 4 'waiting for the place to open up layovers at family's homes - which I do because that is almost more stressful trying to pack up a house and leave out two weeks worth of stuff!) especially since Cory has to leave a month before our lease is up and we won't be living together for the next 5 months...

I was praying, or just kinda complaining, to the Lord a little bit (you do that sometimes right?) about the move and then I was asking for gratitude so I would have a better attitude and then I read my scriptures looking for an answer. I was blessed with both an answer and gratitude! I am reading in the Old Testament and "happen to be" Numbers chapter 33 where Moses says the Lord commanded him to write their goings...I thought, 'yep, I have been meaning to write in my journal, that always makes me more grateful. ok, thanks'. But as I read on, Moses lists all the moving they did! He listed 34 places where they "pitched at or encamped in"! Wow. Then he mentions Aaron dying and then they moved 9 more times!!
So...I felt a ton better and wanted to share how I know God hears us, loves us and answers prayers-even when it may sound a little more like complaining!

Colorado here we come

Ok, really Colorado is only getting Cory but the rest of us will visit often!! Kaylynn and kids will be staying in Ephraim, Utah with her parents for the duration of the internship. We are grateful for the no rent, super supportive parents to let us do that and hope to be helpful to them as well.

Kaylynn has been mostly excited about the cheese sticks at Fat Jacks (what is it called now?) YUMMMMYYY!!

We already received our tax refund back and found and bought a used (new to us!)car - a Honda Accord WAGON! hehe, its sweet. 5 speed so it has get up and go, good gas mileage AND lots of trunk space-the three most important things in a car! All right, a working fan that blows heat and AC is also important feature too, ohh and window lock so the kids can't roll down their windows!

Creating

Have you ever fell into that trap of comparision?! Well, I sure did this weekend..if you read my last post, you will see some result of my trap...blogs, scrapbooking, pretty much all crafty/creative projects. I realized usually the talents others have that I am jealous of and have tried (halfheartedly at times) to improve in myself. Then Sunday, I was asked to be on a panel for the Young Women talking about the divine role as a woman and how I have found joy in being a woman (thats a whole funny story in of itself - wasn't I the tomboy and the least homemaker creative type girl?!)which the talk given by President Uchtdorf (2008 Relief Society General Broadcast) titled
"Happiness, Your Heritage" was brought up. What an inspiring talk! I loved it then and when I read it in the Ensign and again Sunday, it just was perfect! He talks about how as women sometimes we "undervalue [our] abilities - [we] focus on what is lacking or imperfect rather than what has been accomplished and who [we] really are... The good news is that this also points to an admirable quality : the innate desire to please the Lord to the best of [your] ability. Unfortunately, it can also lead to frustration, exhaustion and unhappiness." He goes on to ask "What is our Heavenly Father's happiness?" Well, we know His goals are to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man..."He is able to accomplish these two great goals...because He is a God of creation and compassion." Now- girls, we are awesome at these two things! We are partners with God in creation of human life! And really, who is more compassionate of the sexes? (TYPICALLY-us right?!) President Uchtdorf goes on to say "everyone can create." If you say, like I did, I am not the creative type (see the above paragraph) he goes on to say "Remember you are spirit daughters of the most creative Being in the universe....Think about it-your spirit body is a masterpiece, created with beauty, function, and a capacity beyond imagination."
And why were we created? 2Nephi2:25 to have JOY!!! And one way is by creating things. "Creation means bringing into existencesomething that did not exist before-colorful gardens, harmonious homes, family memories, flowing laughter. What you create doesn't have to be perfect....Don't let the fear of failure discourage you. Don't let the voice of critics paralyze you-whether that voice comes from the outside or the inside." I hear that voice sometimes-don't you?
"If you still feel incapable of creating, start small. Try to see how many smiles you can create, write a letter of appreciation, learn a new skill, identify a space and beautify it."
President Utchdorf's message was fantastic and I encourage you to read the full article - pg 117 in the Nov. 08 Ensign or go to www.lds.org It helped me to share this (hey, I just created something!) so I hope you enjoy your day and create something new! (leave a comment and it will create a smile on my face!)

Blogs

I just have to say, I do not have a cute blog and I think to myself why bother? Either I suck or everyone else has an incredible amount of time/energy or amazing time mngmnt skills or?!! I don't get it, there are so many things I want to talk about but man...I don't know how to just open up and blog I guess! If I don't have pictures I feel like I can't post anything and anyone who knows me knows I love taking pictures but they also know I am computer/ditigal/tech challenged. AGHH. Any hints please.

Follow up few days later...Thank you for your comments...all of you really helped. Can I comment on my own post? I was just having a weird, agh day. I am excited to learn new ways to change up my blog and beautify it. Even trying to let myself just blog whatever... hope you enjoy!

Cory's Internship

I first applied to Promontory golf club a high class private community with two 18 hole golf course.. very nice !! I was very excited about this one and so was Kaylynn. They paid well and provided housing for me and I would be able to go see Kaylynn at her mom and dads every weekend.
but alais I got an email back that they had already hired all their intern for the summer but that they would love to have me next year...

the search continues.....

I found another fantastic golf course in heber city. it is a jack nicholas design. very nice and fancy which really equates to a higher salary because you have more expectations. this course is also part of a company called troon glof that owns and opperates 200 golf courses through out the world. would be nice to get into that company. Again it was close to where Kaylynn would be staying for the summer, but after we haggled out salary and housing I realized that they had two other interns one of which was a girl and we would have been staying in the same house...not good. it was a deal breaker.
the seach continues.....

the superintendant at red ledges was kind enough to try to get me a job at the glacier club in durango colroado, but again i got the "you have a great resume and we would love to have you but we have already hired all of our interns for this year"
suck..
In a mad dash I sent out four resumes all at once. i felt like i was running out of time for finding a great internship. one to teton pines in jackson, wy beautiful golf course and a great superintendant, but they were all full as well. another to manito golf and country club in spokane, wa a good course for spokane and it would be nice to live by family plus there is a school for children with cochlear implants, but the interview didn't sit well with me the job was offered, pay was okay, but if felt as if they were saying "really you want to do an internship here why? have you considered other options?" so i am considering other options. another golf course war roaring fork golf club again excellent course and they had fly fishing on the course too.this course is in aspen colorado. they are currently reviewing my resume, but it might be too late cause I really like this final one! and the finall one is a private community near vail, co. it has four golf courses three regular 18 hole courses and 1 par 3 nine hole course. huge community lots of money. I have received an offer from this course and it looks really good. great pay, free housing, five and a half hour drive to Ephraim, ut. every other weekend off. I would also have a chance to manage a crew on some weekends to get management experience. It is a really good opportunity. I have been offered the job and am waiting on some final paperwork. I don't want to prematurely celebrate, I'll feel secure when I get it all in writing.
I hope the search is over..

Cory received his final paperwork for his internship offer!!!Yeah, we are very excited! Mostly just knowing where we will be is such a relief and comfort.

February 2009

February for most people maybe called the month of love in reference to Valentines Day. But in our family, February truly is the month of love...besides Valentines, our wedding anniversary is the 26th, (my parents is the 12th!),and we celebrate both our children's birthdays - Owen the 4th and Emily the 10th. I love my family and love this month when we have so many opportunities to show our love. We try to show our love every day but the human in us, I think we just get lazy sometimes and its nice to be reminded of how much we appreciate and love having one another to share eternites together!

September 5, 2008

There's so many pictures I want to share but wow!! I am still learning to do this posting thing! Here's our family with really good friends from Boise, Mikkel and April. They helped us thru the bulk of the Deaf/CI maze with Emily. This was taken before another awesome date we had - dinner and "Timeout for Couples" (where we also met Peter Breinholt and he autographed his latest cd for us)! We loved it and encouraged all married couples to go to "Timeout"!!
